What is Fantasy Team?
Fantasy team is a skill-based sweepstakes that allows Pokémon fans to use their knowledge of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon video games to predict what Pokémon will dominate the 2023 Pokémon World Championships for the chance to win cool prizes.
How do I sign up? What is required?
In order to sign up, you will need to have or create a Pokémon Trainer Club account and agree to the provided Terms and Conditions. If you are a winner, you need to provide a valid U.S. mailing address in your Pokémon Trainer Club account by August 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PDT in order to receive prizes.
Who is eligible to participate?
The 2023 World Championships Fantasy Team is open to U.S. residents currently residing in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years old or the age of majority for their state, whichever is older as of the date of entry. Employees, officers, and directors of The Pokémon Company International (“Administrator”), or any of their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, consultants, contractors, legal counsel, advertising, public relations, promotional, fulfillment, and marketing agencies, web site providers, web masters, and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings and children, regardless of where they live) and those living in the same household are not eligible to enter or win.
When can I sign up and until when?
Registration for Fantasy Team will open on August 1, 2023 and will remain open until August 10, 2023, at 8 a.m. PDT.
Once you register and agree to the Terms and Conditions, you may build up to two teams on the Fantasy Team page: one Pokémon TCG team consisting of six cards, and one Pokémon VG team consisting of six Pokémon. You only need to complete one team to be eligible for physical prizes, but can submit one for each category to double your chances of winning. You may make changes to your teams until they are locked in on August 10, 2023, at 8 a.m. PDT.
Are there prizes?
Three tiers of prizing are available:
- The first 10,000 registrants to create a team in either category will receive a code for a Stretchy Form Tatsugiri that can be redeemed in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet video game.
- The top 100 finishers in each category will receive a Scarlet & Violet--Obsidian Flames Booster Display Box and an Umbreon Sitting Cuties Plush.
- The top finisher in each category will receive a jumbo Spheal Poké Plush in addition to the Scarlet & Violet--Obsidian Flames Booster Display Box, and an Umbreon Sitting Cuties Plush.
Participants may create teams in both TCG and VG categories to double their chances of winning, but may only win one of each prize.
How are teams scored?
Points are granted for each selection that appears in the Top 8 Masters Division teams for the Pokémon TCG and Pokémon video game.
TCG
- 48 points per selection in 1st place competitor's list
- 24 points per selection in 2nd place competitor's list
- 12 points per selection in 3rd and 4th place competitors' lists
- 6 points per selection in 5th through 8th place competitors' lists
When tallying Pokémon TCG points, points will only apply once if the card appears in the list, not for each copy of the selected card.
VG
- 16 points per selection in 1st place competitor's team
- 8 points per selection in 2nd place competitor's team
- 4 points per selection in 3rd and 4th place competitors' teams
- 2 points per selection in 5th through 8th place competitors' teams
In the case of a tie, the closeness of the participant's answer to the correct answer of the related game's tiebreaker question will be used to stratify scores. If a tie persists, the participant who submitted the related game's list first will be given priority.
Participants may only win once. If a participant wins in both categories, only the higher placing category will be counted, and they will be removed from the scoring pool for prize determination in the other category.
How do I watch to see how my Team performs? When do we find out if we won? How do we find out?
Results will be posted on or before August 17, 2023, by 11:59 p.m. PDT on the 2023 Pokémon World Championships website. Log in to your Fantasy Team to see how you did!
If you're a winner, you need to enter your address in your Pokémon Trainer Club account profile by August 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PDT in order to receive physical prizes. If no valid U.S. address is present in your account at that time, you forfeit your physical prizing.
