When launching the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online you may choose to either "Login" with your existing account's credentials, or click "Start" to play in Guest Mode (intended for new players). Once you've started Guest Mode you will be presented with the tutorial, and (on subsequent completion) can choose to "Upgrade" the temporary Guest account by signing up for a new account (which will retain the Guest progress). This can only be done if you are a new player. If you attempt to login to an already existing account, you will see the following error:
Error: You cannot upgrade with a previously existing account. To upgrade, please create a new account.
If you already have an account, and wish to retrieve it and your collection/progress, you will need to exit Guest mode and return to the account login page. You can do so by following these steps:
First, access the in-game Options menu via the gears icon in the upper-right portion of the screen. (Please note that this is only accessible after or in-between tutorial matches. If you do not see the Options icon as pictured below, please continue to finish the tutorial match you have started.)
Next, select "Exit" (this will not immediately close the game client).
Now, simply choose to "Log Out".
Finally, you will be presented with the main login screen again, where you can now access your original account (after entering your credentials).
Notes: You cannot "Upgrade" a Guest account to an already existing account (you will get the error noted above). This is because the Guest account is intended for new players, and upgrading only creates a brand new PTC account.
