Username
A username is permanent, and it is never displayed to other users online. This name is visible only to the account holder and should never be shared with anyone; however, it is required to follow our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. The username is also needed to log in to your account and to recover a password.
Screen Name
A screen name is permanent, and it is displayed to other users online. This is the name that represents you in Pokémon applications, such as Pokémon TCG Live.
- Screen name choices cannot contain personally identifiable information (no part of your first name or last name).
- For security reasons, your screen name cannot be the same as your username.
- Screen names must be between 3 and 15 characters long.
- Screen names must be appropriate for all ages.
- Screen names cannot begin or end with a dash.
- Screen names cannot contain spaces, special characters, or punctuation other than dashes and underscores, which cannot be used at the beginning or end of the screen name.
- Screen names cannot contain advertisements of any kind, such as references to other brands or platforms.
- Screen names must follow our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.
If you can’t use the screen name you want, it is most likely taken by another user. Try adding other characters to make your screen name unique.
First and Last Name
First and last names are legal name fields that should match a user’s government-issued identification. In a case where a user wishes to use a name that doesn’t match their government-issued identification, please reach out to Pokémon Support for further assistance.
Note: Please enter accurate information in the first and last name fields to avoid issues when attempting to recover an account or when registering for a Play! Pokémon event. You may find further information in our Terms of Use.
Once your Pokémon Trainer Club registration is complete, your username and other information may be permanent and cannot be changed. For more information, please see the article here.
Display Name
A display name is used at Play! Pokémon events. This name may match a player’s formal name or another name that a player would like to use during a tournament. The display name is changed in the local player roster; you can also change this on a tournament player’s card while in the tournament.
Trainer Name
Your Trainer name, like a screen name, is displayed to other users online. This is the name that represents you in some Pokémon applications, such as Pokémon UNITE and Pokémon Café ReMix.
