Can I transfer my Pokémon Smile save data to another device?
Yes. If you’re using v1.0.5 of the app or later, you will need to generate a Transfer ID and Password and enter them into the Pokémon Smile app on your new device.
You will need:
- Your previous device
- Your new device
- A stable internet connection
To transfer your save data to another device, please follow the steps below.
- Open Pokémon Smile.
- Tap Transfer Data on the bottom left of the screen.
- Tap Create Transfer ID and Password.
- Read through the terms and conditions before tapping I agree.
- Receive your Transfer ID and Password. You can take a screenshot of the Transfer ID and Password or write it down.
- Install Pokémon Smile on your new device and enter your Transfer ID and Password.
Please note:
- The Transfer ID and Password will be valid for 30 days once generated. Please use them within that time.
- Once the transfer is completed, you will not be able to play using the transferred save data on your previous device.
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection while completing the transfer.
The app can’t tell I’m brushing my teeth. What can I do?
The app may not pick up your movements correctly if you play with a clear toothbrush or in a dark area. Try playing with a colored toothbrush in a well-lit area.

Are there notification settings in Pokémon Smile?
Yes. You can set up to three notifications to occur daily.
To set a notification, follow the steps below.
- Open Pokémon Smile.
- Hold down the gray Options button on the Main Menu.
- Tap Brushing Settings on the Options screen.
- Turn notifications on by tapping the ON button below Notifications.
- Set a notification time by tapping a time slot beneath Notification Times, and then set that notification to ON.
Note: You may have to enable notifications via your device settings as well.
Can I create multiple users in Pokémon Smile on a single device?
Yes. A maximum of three users can be created on a single device.
To create a new user, follow the steps below.
- Open Pokémon Smile.
- Hold down the gray Options button on the Main Menu.
- Tap Change User on the Options screen.
- Tap New User to create a new user.
Note: The new user cannot pick a first partner Pokémon that has already been chosen by another user.
Pokémon Smile Troubleshooting
The app won’t start
Make sure your device meets the system requirements, which can be found in Pokémon Smile system requirements and compatibility.
Make sure there is enough available space on your device. It is also helpful to have as few applications running in the background as possible.
Make sure you are playing with a stable, strong internet connection.
Try restarting your device. If you play for a long, continuous period or have other applications running in the background, application performance may degrade.

I’m unable to download the app
You may not be able to download the application with an LTE or 3G connection due to your device settings. We recommend using Wi-Fi when downloading the application.
You may be unable to download Pokémon Smile on an incompatible device.
The app suddenly quits
Make sure you are playing with a stable, strong internet connection.
If you have multiple applications running in the background, close them all and relaunch the app. If there is still no improvement, try restarting your device.

Can I erase a user in Pokémon Smile?
Yes. You can erase a user by following the steps below.

Open Pokémon Smile.
- Hold down the gray Options button on the Main Menu.
- Tap Change User on the Options screen.
- Tap the trash can icon, and then select which user you would like to erase.
Note: User data can’t be recovered once it has been erased.
What are the pictures taken by the app during toothbrushing used for?
These pictures are used only on your device and only with the app’s picture-decoration function. Pictures that you do not choose to use with the Decorate function after toothbrushing are automatically deleted. If you don’t save a picture after using the Decorate function, the picture will be deleted. Pictures will never be uploaded to a server.
What is the video captured during toothbrushing used for?
The video is used by the app to detect your face and brushing movements. The video is not saved and is not uploaded to a server.
Why are the Pokémon that were newly added to Pokémon Smile v2.0.0 not appearing?
Keep brushing your teeth every day to catch all the initially available Pokémon. Once you have completed your Pokédex, you will then be able to encounter the newly added Pokémon.
Can I recover deleted save data in Pokémon Smile?
Yes. Please note that once save data is restored, this action cannot be undone.
To recover your save data, follow the steps below:
- Open Pokémon Smile.
- Hold down the gray Options button on the Main Menu.
- Tap Recover on the Options screen.
- Tap Yes, and then tap Recover.
Once you delete your save data, the Recover button will only appear on the Options screen for the next 10 times that the app is launched, after which you will no longer be able to recover that save data.
How do I catch Pokémon in Pokémon Smile?
To catch Pokémon, tap Get Brushing on the Main Menu and then brush your teeth while facing your device screen. If you brush well, you’ll rescue the Pokémon affected by the cavity-causing bacteria that appear in the game. Then you can catch the Pokémon.
Can I use an electric toothbrush to play Pokémon Smile?
No. The app does not recognize the brushing motions of an electric toothbrush.
Where can I view the Pokémon I’ve caught in Pokémon Smile?
You can view the Pokémon you’ve caught by tapping the Pokédex button on the Main Menu.
Where can I view and try on the Pokémon Caps I’ve received in Pokémon Smile?
You can view and try on your Pokémon Caps by tapping the Pokémon Cap button on the Main Menu.
How do I get more Pokémon Caps and Stickers in Pokémon Smile?
You can get more Pokémon Caps and Stickers by brushing every day and catching Pokémon.
Can I set restrictions in Pokémon Smile so my child can’t play on their own?
To prevent overbrushing, the app does not allow further gameplay using Get Brushing! until four hours have passed since the previous use. There are no restrictions for other functions within the app.
Will more Pokémon be added to Pokémon Smile in the future?
There are no plans for updates to add more Pokémon to the app.
Do Pokémon Caps affect gameplay in Pokémon Smile?
Pokémon Caps are a fun way to change your appearance in the game but do not affect gameplay.
