Both the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the US, and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) require Pokémon to obtain verifiable parental consent from the kid’s parent prior to collecting any personal information from a kid.
If you have received an email from Pokémon to provide information to verify your parental status in order to provide consent for your kid, it is because the birth date provided by the user on the account indicates that the user is under the age of digital consent for the respective country.
