What is a Pokémon Trainer Club account?
A Pokémon Trainer Club (PTC) account is used to sign in to several mobile apps and games, such as Pokémon TCG Live and Pokémon GO. A Pokémon Trainer Club account is also required to track the progress of real-world events and tournaments conducted by Play! Pokémon. It is also required to edit preferences and permissions for connected games, apps, and our newsletter.
How do I create a child account?
You can add a child to your Pokémon Trainer Club account by following the steps outlined in “How do I add a child to my Pokémon Trainer Club account?”
What are the benefits of creating a child account?
- A Pokémon Trainer Club child account allows parents or guardians to set limits on some in-game features for their child’s account.
- Pokémon Trainer Club account is one of two account systems that parents or guardians can use to allow their child to play the popular mobile game Pokémon GO.
- To grant a child access to Pokémon GO, first create a Pokémon Trainer Club account for yourself (if you don’t already have one) and log in. Then choose + Add a Child from the sidebar on the left side of the screen.
- Alternatively, the game’s publisher, Niantic Inc., provides a different account system called Niantic Kids. For information on Niantic Kids accounts and how Niantic keeps your child’s information secure, see “Section 8. Children” in Niantic’s Privacy Policy here.
- If you received an email from Pokémon to provide information to verify your status as a parent or guardian in order to provide consent for your child, it is because the birth date provided by the user on the account indicates that the user is under the digital age of consent in their respective country.
Why can’t I let my child use my Pokémon Trainer Club account?
When you sign up for a Pokémon Trainer Club account, you must agree to our Terms of Use, which state that a person must never use another person’s Pokémon Trainer Club account.
We have the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, and refuse any and all current or future use of our service due to violation of the Terms of Use, or if we determine at our sole discretion that suspension or termination is in the best interest of supporting a fair, wholesome, and safe environment for users of our service (including participants in the Play! Pokémon program, Pokémon TCG Live, or any other portion of the service).
If you would like your child to be able to access a Pokémon Trainer Club account, please create a child account—a process that will solicit your permission, where appropriate.
