If you are a parent or guardian of a child who has created a Pokémon Trainer Club account, here’s a summary of how the process works.
1. Receive Email Notification
When your child attempts to create an account on Pokemon.com, they will enter a parent or guardian’s email address. The parent or guardian will then be contacted via email with the subject line “Please sign up so your child can play!”
If you do not want to provide permission for the account, simply take no action. We have not collected any information about your child at this point and, therefore, there is nothing you need to do.
2. Create Your Own Account (If You Don’t Already Have One)
When you select the “create your own account” link in the email you received, you will be taken to Pokemon.com, where you can create your own Pokémon Trainer Club account if you don’t already have one. Your Pokémon Trainer Club account allows you to manage your child’s account. After creating your account, please log in and add your full legal first and last name.
3. Activate Account
Our system will send an email with an activation link to the address you provided during sign-up. You have up to two weeks to use your Pokémon Trainer Club account without activating it. After that time, you will have to activate your account before you can log in again.
Please note: Emails may take up to 24 hours to arrive. Please check your spam folder as well as your social and promotional tabs (if you have them). If you do not see the email there, we recommend that you add noreply@pokemon.com to your contacts or address book and try again.
4. Verify Your Identity
Once you have logged in to your account, you should see the “Verify Your Identity” page. From the menu on the left-hand side, select “Add a Child” and enter your information in the “Please Verify Your Identity” fields. Be sure to use current and accurate information to ensure the best possible results.
Why is this necessary?
The Pokémon Company International is committed to protecting your child’s identity and privacy online. As a part of meeting that commitment, The Pokémon Company International uses a non-affiliated third-party identity verification company, Veratad Technologies, LLC, to ensure that customers online are who they say they are.
5. Create Your Child’s Account
After completing your identity verification, you will be redirected to the “Create Your Child’s Account” page. From this page, fill in the blank fields for each section.
Read the “Pokémon Website Terms of Use,” and check the box to accept them. Then, check I’m not a robot, and then select Create Your Child’s Account.
Once you have successfully granted permission for your child, your “Edit Profile” page will include a link to that child in the menu options on the left-hand side, just above the “Add a Child” button. (Note: This link only appears on your “Edit Profile” page.)
Anytime you need to make a change to your child’s profile or information, simply select the button corresponding to their account, and you will be taken to their “Edit Profile” page.
