Will I encounter issues playing Pokémon Sleep when changing time zones or switching from standard time to daylight saving time?
Your sleep score is based on the actual amount of sleep time tracked, even if there is a change to your clock’s time. However, if you try to track your sleep too many times within a single day, it may not be tracked properly.
What should I do to make sure my sleep is tracked properly?
While these tips will not guarantee accurate sleep tracking, we recommend the following.
- Make sure your smart device is charged before using it to track sleep
- Keep the Pokémon Sleep application open (not just running in the background).
- Place your device by your pillow or somewhere else where it can detect your body movements.
- Place your device in a place where it won’t detect anyone else’s movements.
Note: If your smart device is placed on a hard surface, such as on the floor or on a side table, your sleep will not be tracked properly.
What are the audio recordings used for? Can I turn the off the audio recording function?
You can listen to the audio recordings after you finish tracking your sleep. Audio recordings are not shared with any third parties, they are not shared through the Research Community, and they are never sent to our servers. Audio recordings are only saved on your device and remain available for either 24 hours after your last sleep tracking session or until you begin your next sleep tracking session.
To turn off the audio recording function, select Audio Recordings while reviewing your sleep data and choose Disable Recording.
Note: Even with audio recordings disabled, Pokémon Sleep requires permission to access your microphone in order to track your sleep.
I tried to track my sleep but saw the message, “No valid sleep sessions were found.”
This message appears when the app is unable to properly track sleep and may, therefore conclude that you were not sleeping. This may occur when the app senses intense movement from you for a certain length of time

Can I play Pokémon Sleep without the Pokémon GO Plus + device?
You can play Pokémon Sleep without the Pokémon GO Plus + device, but we believe that gameplay is more enjoyable with the Pokémon GO Plus + device.
I’m more of a nocturnal person. Can I play Pokémon Sleep even if I sleep during the day?
You can play Pokémon Sleep regardless of what time of day or night you sleep.
How is my sleep tracked? Why does my tracked sleep sometimes seem different from what I experienced.
Pokémon Sleep uses your device’s accelerometer to estimate your sleep state by detecting your body movement.
Your sleep time is not measured from the time you press Sleep (Start Tracking Sleep) to the time you press End Sleep Session, but rather refers to the time that the app actually tracked (estimated) you sleeping.
During each sleep session, tracking begins the first time you enter deep sleep (also known as “Slumbering”) and ends the last time you enter shallow sleep (going from “Slumbering” to “Dozing”).
You must follow all the device instructions and sleep in an acceptable environment for your sleep to be properly recorded.
What if I forgot to track my sleep or wasn’t able to track my sleep properly?
You can manually enter your sleep data up to 30 hours after the sleep session occurred. To do so, select Add Sleep Data from the Main Menu. You won’t be able to perform sleep research, but you will see the following effects:
- Your helper Pokémon will recover Energy according to the amount of sleep time you entered.
- The next time you receive a Bonus Biscuit, you will receive one extra Bonus Biscuit.
- Premium Pass subscribers will receive 100 bonus sleep points.
Why Don’t My Pokémon Seem to Recover Enough Energy?
Please see the below list for potential reasons why your Pokémon may appear to not recover as much Energy as you expect.
You can check the amount of Energy your Pokémon recovered in “Helper Pokémon Growth” after you complete your sleep research.
- The longer you sleep and the higher your sleep score, the more Energy your Pokémon will recover. Therefore, if your sleep time is short, your Pokémon will recover less Energy.
- Pokémon in your Pokémon Box will also recover a small amount of Energy.
- Pokémon will not recover additional Energy if you manually add sleep data (from Main Menu > Add Sleep Data) after your first sleep data entry of the day.
- The maximum amount of Energy each Pokémon can recover in one day is 100. For example, if a Pokémon’s Energy recovers by 80 after your first sleep session of the day, that Pokémon can only recover up to 20 Energy in your second sleep session that day.
- If you record sleep data multiple times using the Pokémon GO Plus + device, the Energy your Pokémon recovers will be based only on your latest sleep data.
Can I still receive rewards if I change my bedtime?
Changing your bedtime will reset your progress on your current stamp card. However, there will be no change to stamp cards that have already been completed and you will not lose any rewards that you have already received.
If I use an E-Zzz Travel Ticket, what will happen to the progress I made on the site before that?
When you use an E-Zzz Travel Ticket to travel to another site, the following elements are reset.
- Snorlax Strength
- Progress on weekly missions that award Pokémon Incense
Note: Missions you have already cleared will not be reset.
I received an error when I opened Pokémon Sleep, and I wasn’t able to play.
Logins may sometimes be limited when many players are accessing the server at once, which may result in the message “Please wait a while, then try again.” We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you please wait for a little while before trying to log in again.
Why am I unable to start sleep tracking with my smart device?
If you are unable to start sleep tracking and see an error message such as “You can track up to two sessions of sleep per day. You’ve hit today’s limit,” or “You can’t start tracking sleep right now because your device’s current time overlaps with the time of a sleep session you previously tracked," one of the following two cases may be the cause.
- You may have tried to start tracking sleep for the third time in one day. You can only track two sleep sessions in a single day. Note: The day rolls over at 4:00 a.m. every day.
- The current time on your device may overlap with the sleep data you tracked in a past session.
If the clock time on your device changes significantly, such as when you enter a new time zone, the time on your device may overlap with time during which you recorded sleep data in the past.
To track your sleep, please wait until the time recorded in your past sleep data has passed.
You can check the times of your past sleep data by selecting Main Menu from the home screen, then selecting Sleep Data.
