How do attacks that do not require Energy work?
If no Energy symbol is displayed to the left of the attack name on a card, then it is an attack that can be used without any Energy attached to the Pokémon. This means that the attack can be used on the first turn of the player that goes first.
Does a player get points when a Pokémon in play is discarded through a card’s effect?
No, a player does not get points if an opposing Pokémon in play is discarded due to an effect. Points are gotten only when an opponent’s Pokémon is Knocked Out.

Why didn’t my Jolteon ex’s Electromagnetic Wall Ability do damage to my opponent’s Pokémon?
Jolteon ex’s Electromagnetic Wall Ability takes effect only when Energy is attached to a Pokémon from the Energy Zone, for example:
- When a player attaches Energy from the Energy Zone to a Pokémon.
- When an effect causes Energy from the Energy Zone to be attached to a Pokémon.
Electromagnetic Wall’s effects do not come into effect:
- When Energy from the Discard Pile is attached to a Pokémon.
- When Energy attached to one Pokémon is moved to a different Pokémon.
Why can Buzzwole ex use Big Beat on consecutive turns?
When Buzzwole ex uses Big Beat, the attack applies an effect on Buzzwole ex that prevents it from using Big Beat during the next turn. However, all effects applied to a Pokémon are removed when that Pokémon returns to the Bench. Because of this, if Buzzwole ex returns to the Bench after using Big Beat, the effect from Big Beat that prevents it from being used on the next turn is removed, and Buzzwole ex can use the attack again on the next turn.
Why wasn’t the additional 50 damage added to Scizor's Gale Thrust?
Scizor’s Gale Thrust does an additional 50 damage after Scizor is moved from the Bench to the active spot during the same turn that it uses the attack.
Please also note that:
- Additional damage will not be added to the attack if your active Pokémon is knocked out during your opponent's turn and Scizor moves to the active spot as a result.
- Additional damage will not be added to the attack if Scyther moves from the Bench to the active spot and then evolves into Scizor.
